Kindergartens South’s Business Development Manager Sandra King will be attending the Women in Leadership Summit in Auckland, thanks to the Glass Elevator Professional Women’s Network facilitated by the Southland Chamber of Commerce.
“I am very excited to be attending this Leadership Summit. It is not always easy for non-profit organisations, like Kindergartens South, to go to these sorts of learning opportunities, so I am really grateful to be going” Sandra said.
She won the prize pack which includes entry to the two-day event and return airfares, valued at over three thousand dollars, when she was drawn from a list of women members who regularly attend the Glass Elevator events.
The Women in Leadership Summit celebrates the positive changes in advancing gender diversity while learning from the experiences of women who have succeeded and analyses concrete steps to overcome challenges faced in the leadership journey.
Among the impressive line-up of key note speakers are Hon. Dame Jenny Shipley, TV Broadcaster Hilary Barry, Entrepreneur Chelsea Winter and Zero’s Anna Curzon.
“The Chamber is proud to champion leadership; gender diversity is incredibly important to us as an organisation. This event presents an opportunity to share insights and be inspired by some of New Zealand’s foremost leaders across many industries. I’m really looking forward to it, I think Sandra and I will both come home really inspired” said Chamber Immediate Past President Carla Forbes who is also a guest speaker at the event.
Air New Zealand’s Otago/Southland Regional Sales Manager Frank Gibbons says “It’s great to see our support of the chamber being utilised to inspire and grow leadership of women in the Southland community.
Air New Zealand is passionate about gender diversity and has made significant gains in this space across all business units since targets were first set in 2013. At this time just 16% of the airline’s Senior Leadership Team was female and a target of 40% by 2020 was set. Having almost reached this target already, it’s been revised to achieve 50% by that year. “
