Young Enterprise students take out 1st and 2nd prize in Asia-Pacific competition

Young Enterprise Trust

Six awesome YES students flew to Hong Kong last month to compete in the Asia Pacific Final of the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge. Working in teams of two, they were challenged to come up with a new beauty product to export to Kenya. The new product also had to address a social issue.

The three NZ teams came up with a waterless facewash to combat trachoma, whitening toothpaste that can decrease dental fluorosis, and a moisturiser that can repel mosquitos.

For the second year in a row, all three Kiwi teams made it to the grand final. We were ecstatic when New Zealand took out 1st and 2nd place! Congratulations to:

• Shannon Metcalfe (Avondale College) and Izzy Stangl (Long Bay College), who won 1st prize

• Amanda Ngo (Kings College) and Ben Seelen (Nayland College), who won 2nd prize

Tom Anderson (Roncalli College) and Dylan Rogan (Rangitoto College), who also made the final.
