New Zealand has one of the biggest renewable energy sources in the world. Unfortunately for most Small to Medium (SME) commercial users it is not the cheapest. The situation is not that much better for larger wholesale users.
Joining an SPL buying group and collaborating with others means it is possible to enjoy substantial savings on your energy bills.
SPL has negotiated an online on time tariff with a discount of 22% off a standard tariff. In order to access this discount syndicates need to be at 50 connections or more. In Southland the SPL syndicate is, at the time of writing, at 104 connections. Overall savings for these connections range between 14% and 28% per annum.
Small to Medium User Group Contract
In our experience a typical SME (50,000 to 150,000 kwh p.a.) can expect to save 15% to 25% on their energy bills by using a fixed discount SPL group contract. A customer using 100,00 kwh p.a. could enjoy potential savings of $3,000 to $5,000 per year.
Large User Contract
For larger users SPL will arrange a buying syndicate and tender its energy needs in the market. Members will leverage their collective buying power and achieve a more competitive price. We will also offer advice on contract duration and structure.
