The Southland Chamber of Commerce is a membership organisation for over 500 Businesses throughout Southland. With a mission to drive business progress by supporting members and partnering with decision makers and leaders to grow the Southland economy, the Chamber is now well positioned to deliver this following a recent review of the operational roles and responsibilities.
We are now looking for a capable CEO to head the Chamber and be a credible ambassador for the regions business community. The CEO will be responsible for a small team and will be well supported with an active Board providing experience and governance. A critical focus for this member centric role will be to increase the profile of the Chamber as a key support agency for the Regional Development Strategy and as the spokesperson for key internal and external stakeholders which include local body council, policy makers as well as regional, national and international strategic partnerships and alliances.
Additional key deliverables will include:
A tertiary business or professional qualification or relevant business experience will be essential for this role; it is likely that the successful candidate will have at least ten years’ general business experience and a minimum of five years at executive level, with a good understanding of Board governance. Astute commercial acumen, coupled with authentic and collaborative leadership, will be critical. A clear strategic thinker with excellent communication skills who has the ability to build trust and engage with people at all levels completes the profile for this pivotal and rewarding role.
