Event Description

All boards have a core role in overseeing corporate culture, conduct risk and ethical behaviour. How do they set the tone from the top?

Overview

Boards need to think beyond compliance and take the lead and set the tone. Failure in this responsibility exposes customers, banks and the wider economy to unnecessary risk and can ultimately cause significant financial and reputational damage.

Richard Klipin is the CEO of the Financial Services Council (FSC). The FSC is an industry body representing the wealth management sector with a focus on life insurers, wealth managers (Kiwisaver & Super) and fund managers. The FSC represents the interests of the financial services industry with a clear focus on articulating the voice of its members to consumers, regulators, Government and the media

Richard will look at the responsibilities of the board in the financial services area and will discuss how boards can set the tone of culture and conduct from the top. He will also discuss what COVID-19 means in terms of conduct.

The Director Dialogue series provides those at the early to mid-stage of their governance career with an opportunity to discuss various topics relevant to the boardroom in an informal setting and to develop their networks across the Otago Southland business community.

These sessions provide valuable insights that will assist your governance journey.
